"I think it would be safe to say that my inspiration for this project would be Matisse, Marian Banjtes, my kids and my love of baking/cooking." Robin Delisle

Student Ideas - Raniel Dantic

This drawing was made for a postcard assignment made to mimic a style. I chose to mimic Art Nouveau, well John Dyer Baizley for the most part. He is a current artist whom I have solely recognized for his album art and poster design. I am interested in the way he collages beautiful imagery with gore. The idea of combining opposites is an obsession of mine. My drawings are just doodles in which some occassions become an elaborate composition. There is never a process or an idea. Along with most, I have recognized drawing to be a meditation and without the right mindset I find it impossible to draw a line.

Student Ideas - Caitlin Barber

From childhood, I have had a passion for creativity and artistic expression. I started playing with Photoshop at my dad's advertising firm by the time I was in elementary school and was always sure to pack my class schedule with a variety of art classes. By high school, I knew I had a love for graphic design and spent much of my time learning the Adobe Creative Suite and playing with blog/website layouts and graphics. Upon graduating, I moved from my small town in Colorado to attend Full Sail University. I am currently working on an associates degree in graphic design and plan on combining it with my passion for people and communication to pursue a career I will truly love every minute of.

Student Ideas - Tyson Junkers

I have always been able to come up with creative ideas, but never knew what to do with them. A few years ago I got my hands on a copy of Photoshop and my ideas came to life. Since then, I have been creating designs every day. Most of them end up in the trash, but the only way you'll ever know if somethings good or bad is by trying. I am now a Digital Arts & Design Student at Full Sail University. So far, I have learned more than I could have ever expected. I can no longer pick up a pen without designing a concept for something, which is why I plan on being a designer the rest of my life; it's in everything I do.

Student Ideas - Orion Orbes

My name is Orion Orbes, I'm 21. I was born and raised in Cancun, Mexico. I moved to Northwest Florida in 2003, then moved to Orlando in April of 2008. I've been going to Full Sail for Digital Arts & Design since January 2009. I've been drawing since I was 5 years old. I come from an artsy family, often drawing inspiration from my uncle's paintings and my father's detailed pencil drawings. I want a career in graphic design and illustration because of the creativity involved and I like bringing ideas to life. I drew this as part of a project called "more", which involves illustrating a a positive statement with the word more. Live more, Love more, Be more, etc. With this piece I illustrated a monster mouth with it's teeth in the shape of the words "SHOUT MORE". The meaning is self-explanatory. People often keep their negative emotions inside when in fact we should keep those emotions out. This piece is a reminder that we can shout more whenever we want, and relieve ourselves from negative attitudes.
Some of my favorite artists include Jeremy Fish, Earl Funk, Jason Stephan and Bansky.

Born and raised on the Caribbean island paradise of Barbados, I have been surrounded by what most people in the world consider Beauty. A beautiful tropical paradise with white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters. However, over time you notice faults and flaws. Minor cracks in the egg, only seen when held up to the light of experience. I feel very attracted to the decay, amidst the paradise. The derelict houses and factories, the faces of tragedy, in a nation with a history of ripping the children from the womb of Africa. You can find beauty and pain, and love and sorrow. I love this about my country, you can swim with sea turtles or you can enjoy the
solitude of a building forsaken on a cliff over looking the ocean. You can stumble across lonely coves by the sea, or hidden graveyards which date back to the 1600's, overgrown with vines in the middle of a forest. Theres a natural mystic flowing through the air, if you listen carefully - you will hear. :)

Art is a reflection of the self, and a reflection of society. Insight into the soul of the artist, beyond the facade of skin-deep beauty, your white picket fence, your $300 curtains. There is beauty in honesty, and honestly showing the beauty amidst the chaos and the perfection in the broken.

Art is self.

I really like this idea, it gives us insight into the soul of humanity, a cool 'fine art' type project i suppose, not really graphic design. I guess it could be called photography. http://beforeidieiwantto.org/

Student Ideas - Brandon Herring

I was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and just recently moved to Orlando, Florida to study Digital Art and Design at Full Sail University.
I've always gravitated toward traditional medias, and it wasn't until about 3 or 4 years ago that I was introduced to Photoshop and the world of digital art.
Since then I've enjoyed experimenting in many medias. Often I'll paint a canvas for a background, take a picture of that, scan an old sketch from the sketch book, and composite it all digitally. There really are no limits to what or how something can be achieved.
Still, nothing beats slinging some paint around, or sketching with good old pencil and paper. So, I try to incorporate the best of all worlds in my work.
If you see something you like, or something you don't, send me an email at Brandon.Was.Herring@gmail.com and let me know what you think.
I enjoy hearing the good and the bad, so don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Thanks for looking!

james widener // snuffhouse is print, illustration, type and web design. I have been doing mixed media since i started a video editing and a few art class's in middle school and haven't stopped since. Now i attend Full Sail university in Orlando Florida for a degree in digital media that originally i had the intention to just do web design but after a few refresher class's in photoshop and illustrator class's and meeting some of my favorite illustrators in the industry, i found something i really love to do in typography and print. Although sometimes vector illustrations can be a trendy look and there are so many artists out there that similar styles emerge and that caught me at times with that trendy look, but i try and stray from that with by including my writing in my illustrations and much more meaning to bring something fresh and new to the table. Web was always something that intrigued me and something i am still growing into every day and love learning and designing. Typography, print and illustration on the other hand i truly love because it gives me the ability to voice my feelings or get a point across in a graphical manner and truly convey a more powerful message. It's been a crazy journey for me with a tun of ups and downs and without the help from some really talented people and friends i wouldn't be here today please check out some of my inspiration and talented friends. There is so much that is going on the next few months so please bookmark my blog and stay posted.

Student Ideas - Nicholas Boyd

Who am I? Well I'm a graphic artist pursuing my passion of art. I also have a passion for helping others in need and I try to bring awareness through my art. There is so much beauty in this world even amongst the helpless but most people refuse to take the time to see it in their day to day activities. I hope that the people who see my art will begin to see the world in all its beauty as I do.

Mat Giordano - IDEA II

Come and listen to one of our very own graduate Mat Giordano, Senior Designer for IDEA II. Also in attendance will be Jeannette Sanders, the Creative Director of IDEA II. They will both be speaking this Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 2 PM - 3 PM, FS3B-131.

Mat Giordano, Senior Designer
A relatively fresh addition to the artist team at Idea, Mat, a 2006 graduate of the Digital Arts and Design Bachelor's program at Full Sail, brings a broad skill set with an even broader sense of general design sensibility giving him the capability to jump across multiple platforms of new media and interactive projects. A solid stronghold in conceptual problem solving with the ability to make the solution a reality across a number of applications for clients such as HP, Microsoft, and Sony has made coupling design and technological innovation inseparable within his work. Along with Mat's other interests in industrial design, architecture, and B-movie cinema, he is a Frank Zappa fanatic with a love for travel and suffers from a fervent video game obsession.

"IDEA II is a specialized group within Idea Integration, which is a business unit of MPS Group (NYSE: MPS). We conceive and execute interactive solutions from our Houston and New York City offices, which are among the nine national offices that comprise Idea Integration.

IDEA II provides a broad range of services for medium to large companies nationwide, including several Fortune 500 clients. We've been named by Adweek and BtoB magazines as one of top 50 interactive agencies in the nation, and we're ranked among the top five in Texas."

"Im from a small town north of Houston on Lake Conroe. I have been into fine arts, mainly sketching all my life. Since coming to Florida I found the ways of photography. when im not taking pictures im usually skating, or playing my guitar. I learned from my roomate on an old Minolta film camera and was given a canon xti for my birthday last year. since then I have basically self taught myself messing with things like tilt/shift, HDR and flash and lighting techniques. recenty I got a Holga 120 and am starting to play aorund with medium format film. When done with Full Sail I plan on moving out to Austin, Texas somewhat near my home on Texas's large scale. oh, and a common misconception is that flickr is a stock photography site...which it is not. it's a site photographers and just normal people use to upload and share their pictures personally."
